ERM is hiring Field Biologists to conduct surveys for special‑status species on a large construction project in Madera and Merced, California. The role is full‑time (40 hours/week), limited‑term for one year with possible renewal, and requires flexibility to adapt to changing schedules, sites, and tasks.
Field Biologists will perform pre‑construction surveys across the client’s project area, often working independently in remote locations. Duties include electronic data collection, sub‑meter GPS acquisition, daily reporting, survey report compilation, and adherence to ERM’s rigorous safety program.
Candidates must have at least two years of biology experience with special‑status species and expertise in at least one of the listed taxa (e.g., Blunt‑nosed Leopard Lizard, San Joaquin Kit Fox, California Tiger Salamander, Swainson’s hawk, Crotch Bumble Bee, Fairy Shrimp) meeting specific sighting or effort thresholds. Additional requirements include outdoor work capability, strong GPS and map‑interpretation skills, meticulous documentation, solid organizational and communication abilities, a positive attitude for extended field periods, willingness to travel with overnight stays, problem‑solving competence, a valid driver’s license, and fluency in English with Spanish preferred.
The position offers an annual base salary of $73,008–$78,000 ($35.10–$37.50 /hr) on a non‑exempt, limited‑term basis, with potential bonus eligibility for regular employees. Eligible staff working 20 + hours per week receive a comprehensive benefits package that includes paid time off, medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and life & disability insurance. ERM is an equal‑opportunity employer and does not accept unsolicited agency resumes.
