Description

In this role you will review blueprints and drawings to determine project scope, identify missing information and generate RFIs, and select the appropriate subcontractors and specialty vendors. You will issue bid invitations, answer and clarify scope questions, and attend walkthroughs as a competent company representative. Collaboration with the Estimating team, Project Managers, and senior management ensures timelines are met and client satisfaction is achieved.

You will manage budgeting responsibilities by translating fit‑up plans into detailed quantity takeoffs, assessing site conditions, and entering data into budget models that are cross‑checked against historical costs. Effective communication with clients will keep expectations aligned on schedule and construction scope.

• Foster positive, professional relationships with all subcontractors and vendors.
• Develop a comprehensive understanding of project strategy, financial goals, scheduling, logistics, phasing, milestones, and inspections.
• Review subcontractor proposals to confirm full scope coverage and proper breakdown of add/alt items.
• Compile pricing that protects JDL while remaining competitive.
• Present scope and pricing reviews clearly to clients.
• Manage client expectations regarding project timing.
• Analyze limited fit‑up plans to extrapolate required work.
• Communicate with clients to align expectations on construction scope.
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs.
• Assess existing site conditions for related concerns.
• Input takeoffs into budget and compare values to historical cost data.

Requirements

We are seeking an experienced, detail‑oriented Assistant Project Estimator to join our growing organization. The ideal candidate will be able to contribute to the Estimating department immediately with little to no training, while embracing ongoing mentorship and professional development.

Candidates must have 1‑5 years of estimating or construction experience and demonstrate a “can‑do” attitude, professionalism with subcontractors, and willingness to accept direction and feedback.
