The Data Engineering Manager is a hands‑on player‑coach who owns Wrench Group’s core data foundation, connecting brand, operational, and customer data into governed, reliable products that the business can trust and use. In this role you lead a small team while actively designing data movement across the enterprise, establishing methodologies for access, quality, monitoring, security, and cost, and providing guardrails for consistent, well‑documented datasets. You partner closely with the BI & Analytics team to deliver certified datasets and predictable refreshes that accelerate reporting, predictive models, operational clarity, and customer experience, while fostering a culture of transparency, reliability, and continuous improvement. The manager will design and build Azure Databricks pipelines, manage and mentor a data engineer, implement Unity Catalog governance, define data contracts and automated quality checks, publish certified datasets and maintain security and refresh orchestration, and ensure observability and cost efficiency. Success requires 5+ years of data/analytics engineering experience, at least 2 years in a lead or mentoring role, strong expertise with Azure Databricks, Python/PySpark, SQL, ADLS Gen2, and experience integrating CRM/ERP sources, as well as solid communication, stakeholder influence, and familiarity with data mesh, Unity Catalog, Purview, and Azure security and monitoring tools.
The position offers a competitive salary of $145,000‑$155,000 based on experience, performance‑based bonus eligibility, and unlimited PTO with supervisor partnership.
