Design Leader, Interiors

Description

• Contribute to project documentation during all phases
• Lead and contribute to design awards and publication efforts
• Coordinate projects with team members and consultants to resolve conflicts and discrepancies
• Lead and assist in design documentation, including 3D CAD modeling, physical models, and material research
• Prepare design communication and presentation materials such as sketches, rendered 2D/3D drawings, perspectives, slide decks, and material boards
• Apply building code concepts including accessibility, occupant loads, exit widths, fire-rated assemblies, ramps, stairs, and handrails
• Assist in material and system selection and development of construction details
• Participate in office design charrettes
• Collaborate with lead designer to resolve project issues and integrate design intent into documentation
• Support the design team and ensure design intent is maintained through all phases
• Coordinate design intent through construction document and construction phases
• Assist in the development of project interview materials
• Provide regular project status updates to supervisor
• Support project designer and project manager in supervision and delegation of work
• Prepare complex plans, elevations, and details under supervisor guidance
• Coordinate with government agencies and utility companies to obtain plan check approvals
• Coordinate design intent in the development of outline specifications
• Estimate hours for assigned tasks and complete work within agreed-upon budget
• Participate in creating working drawings and deliverables for SD, DD, and CD phases
• Participate in creating documents required by governing agencies

Requirements

• Thorough understanding of applicable building codes for independent code analysis and compliance
• Ability to correspond effectively with consultants regarding Revit files and directives
• Ability to manage and resolve Revit-related issues on HMC’s platform
• Architectural degree from an accredited university or equivalent proficiency is required
• Understanding of architectural and construction industry terminology
• CAD knowledge including drawing setup, layers, dimensions, blocks, attributes, purge/audit/recover, backups, and viewports
• Strong design communication skills through sketching and hand drawings
• Professional verbal and written communication skills for coordination with staff, consultants, and vendors
• Knowledge of deliverables for all project phases
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in architectural design and document coordination across all phases
• Ability to delegate assignments respectfully
• Advanced proficiency in Revit, including 3D modeling in Rhino and Enscape
• Strong interpersonal skills to establish productive relationships with team members, consultants, and agencies
• Demonstrate understanding of basic construction systems such as walls, roofs, doors, and windows
