The UAV Survey Lead will head the UAV capability, directing its development, driving business development and bid preparation, managing survey delivery, and liaising with clients throughout production. The role also involves coordinating technical improvements, promoting the cloud‑based Cirrus Insite platform, and working closely with the wider Geomatics team on multi‑technology projects.
Candidates must hold a degree or equivalent in Geomatics/Survey and have proven experience in conducting and managing UAV/drone surveys, bid and proposal writing, and a solid understanding of survey principles and accuracies. Strong communication and presentation skills, evidence of thought leadership, the ability to obtain security clearance, and a current PFCO are essential.
Desirable experience includes chartered status or membership of RICS/CICES, publishing or speaking at industry events, processing UAV imagery, producing deliverables such as DTM, orthophoto or topographic maps, and consulting for clients. Experience with other survey techniques and project delivery in sectors like rail, highways, energy, utilities, asset management, or MOD is also valued.
The individual must be a proven leader who can work independently and as part of a team, meet tight deadlines, and adhere to quality‑assurance procedures. Excellent client‑facing skills, flexibility in problem‑solving, and the ability to communicate effectively with overseas offices are required.
The role may require UK security clearance, subject to a vetting process that can require five years of UK residency. Candidates should not disclose any existing clearance in their applications.
