Journeyman Engineer

Description

The Journeyman Engineer role (Local 39 Union, $72.93/hr) is based on‑site in Sunnyvale, CA and involves operating and maintaining all client‑owned building equipment, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems such as air handling units, CRAC units, lighting and kitchen equipment. The position blends technical expertise with operational excellence, requiring swift response to trouble tickets, clear written communication, and meticulous record‑keeping.

• Operate and maintain mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, including AHUs, CRAC units, lighting, and kitchen equipment.
• Perform preventive and reactive maintenance, repairs, and adjustments to ensure occupant comfort and critical room reliability.
• Respond promptly to trouble tickets/work orders with a positive attitude and clear communication.
• Draft concise email updates on project status and coordinate with JLL team members.
• Keep accurate records, operation logs, preventive maintenance logs, parts inventory, and procedures.
• Inspect facilities continuously, identify discrepancies, generate SIM tickets, and manage vendor interactions.
• Follow all safety regulations, identify hazards, participate in incident investigations, and enforce safety rules.

• Required: High school diploma or equivalent and ≥2 years commercial building engineering experience; strong mechanical aptitude and customer service skills; knowledge of HVAC distribution, controls, AHUs, CRAC, lighting systems; ability to maintain logs and respond quickly to work orders; understanding of facility safety regulations.
• Preferred: Experience with kitchen equipment and general plumbing repairs; familiarity with Methods of Procedures (MOPs) and inspection logs; background in critical‑room HVAC control; expertise in facility inspections, vendor management, SIM ticket generation, and equipment lifecycle planning.
