The Pipefitter role involves laying out, fabricating, assembling, installing, and maintaining piping systems for steam, hot water, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling, and industrial processing applications. The incumbent will select appropriate pipe sizes, inspect sites for obstructions, plan installation sequences, and ensure that all work complies with company safety policies while coordinating with other construction crews.

- Inspect worksite for obstructions and structural impact
- Plan installation sequence to avoid conflicts
- Cut pipe using hacksaw, torch, or pipe‑cutting machine
- Thread pipe with a threading machine
- Bend pipe manually or with a bending machine
- Assemble and install metal and non‑metal pipe fittings (brass, copper, lead, glass, plastic)
- Join pipe using threaded, caulked, soldered, brazed, fused, or cemented methods
- Secure pipe to structure with clamps, brackets, and hangers
- Install and maintain refrigeration and air‑conditioning systems, including compressors and controls
- Test piping system for leaks by pressurizing and monitoring gauges
- Weld holding fixtures to structural steel members
- Travel to job sites on short notice as required
- Actively participate in daily toolbox meetings
- Perform basic arithmetic and measurement calculations
- Follow precise standards and procedures
- Maintain strong team relations and communication with supervisor
- Work up to 12‑hour shifts in varying temperatures and outdoor conditions
- Lift and carry objects up to 50 lb; perform stooping, kneeling, climbing, and other physical tasks

Candidates must have at least four years of relevant experience or training, a high school diploma or GED (preferred), and preferably hold a pipefitter certification from NCCER, NCCCO, or an equivalent body. They should be familiar with MIC health and safety programs, capable of interpreting technical documents, and able to perform basic calculations and measurements while maintaining strong teamwork and communication with supervisors.
The position requires up to 12‑hour shifts in varying weather conditions, with physical tasks that include lifting up to 50 lb, climbing, kneeling, and working at heights. Employees must wear required personal protective equipment and be prepared for frequent travel—up to 90% of the time—and a typical schedule of about 50 hours per week.
- Minimum 4 years related experience or training; high school diploma/GED preferred
- Pipefitter certification (NCCER, NCCCO, or equivalent) preferred
- Knowledge of MIC Health and Safety programs and project regulations
- Demonstrate safe behavior and read/interpret safety and procedural documents
- Wear required PPE (hard hat, safety shoes, gloves, etc.)
- Work at heights and in confined or uneven spaces as needed
- Full‑time schedule ~50 hours/week; travel up to 90% of time
