  • Endeavor to provide protection for owner against defects and deficiencies in the work.
  • Conduct on-site observation of work, repairs, and tests as needed.
  • Coordinate construction activities with clients, inspectors, contractors and public agencies.
  • Maintain job site records of daily reports, job meeting minutes, approved drawings, and pay requests in IDOT CMMS.
  • Observe, measure and document construction activities.
  • Serve as liaison with contractor.
  • Assist project engineers and managers with a wide variety of tasks required during project delivery.

  • B.S. degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
  • Illinois DOT contract documentation and inspection.
  • E.I.T (Engineer in Training) certification.
  • Strong written, verbal, computer, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to travel throughout the IDOT District 2 area.
  • 2+ years of experience working as a Construction Inspector or Technician on construction projects.
  • Effective communication, both oral and written, with residents, businesses and public agencies.
  • Experience with IDOT CMMS software.
  • IDOT Documentation of Contract Quantities certification.
