Description

• Take responsibility for assisting with environmental permits, NEPA documentation, biological assessments and other environmental compliance documentation
• Work on a wide variety of environmental compliance and natural resources projects as they relate to water resources, transportation and development projects
• Assist senior and mid-level scientists in field work associated with the collection of natural resource data
• Work under the supervision of mid-level and senior environmental scientist and water resource engineers

Requirements

• Previous experience obtaining US Coast Guard permits
• Previous experience scoping and producing environmental permits for FDOT projects.
• Experience with ArcGIS software and Trimble GPS units
• Local candidates are preferred
• Ability to coordinate with multi-disciplinary technical teams to minimize impacts on natural resources and effectively incorporate into overall project schedule.
• Previous experience scoping and producing environmental permits for Maritime projects.
• A broad knowledge of Florida’s marine environment and species.
• Proficiency navigating complex regulatory scenarios.
• BS or MS degree in Biology, Environmental Science, or related field
• Good organizational and data handling skills, along with proficiency in MS Excel and ArcGIS software.
• Willingness to work in inclement conditions and travel for a few days at a time for field work.
• MS Office experience
• Ability to market clients and experience writing proposals, developing scopes of work, budgets, and schedules for environmental projects with multi-disciplinary teams and multi-agency efforts
• Previous experience working with the National Parks Service.
• A broad knowledge of Florida’s flora and/or fauna.
• Excellent writing and communication skills
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience conducting natural resource surveys, such as aquatic resources delineations, seagrass surveys, benthic surveys, and permitting through an ecological consulting firm, resource agencies (USACE, Water Management Districts, FDEP, USCG), or similar in Florida.
• Licensed as a Gopher Tortoise Agent (GTA)
• Previous Mitigation Design experience
• Ability to function as task lead and QC reviewer on a variety of natural resources studies and deliverables.
• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Sciences or closely related field
• Strong background in NEPA and state-level environmental reviews, including environmental impact statements (EIS), environmental assessments (EA), FDOT PD&Es
• Exceptional and demonstrated technical writing ability. Experience drafting technical documents such as scientific papers, survey findings reports, compliance documentation, or similar required.
• Previous experience managing and mentoring multidiscipline environmental staff
• Knowledge of wetland delineation, field investigation techniques, and agency coordination requirements
• Previous Living Shoreline experience
• Experience in preparation of UMAM analysis
