The successful candidate will join the Sustainable Transport team, supporting a mix of public‑sector clients, private organisations and industry associations on aviation environmental matters such as decarbonisation, Sustainable Aviation Fuels and non‑CO₂ impacts. They will also contribute to business development and represent Ricardo at external events.
- Provide specialist aviation sector expertise to clients in international fora.
- Lead technical tasks and teams on aviation environmental projects, including decarbonisation, Sustainable Aviation Fuels, non‑CO₂ impacts, policies and financial instruments.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of aviation technology developments, trends, challenges and regulations.
- Contribute to aviation projects and programmes within the Sustainable Transport team for public, private and industry clients.
- Manage, supervise and coach junior team members to develop their potential.
- Lead business development opportunities and prepare technical proposals in the aviation sector.
- Represent Ricardo at external events and support wider business development activities.

Candidates must have demonstrated expertise in aviation technology development, forecasting and emissions scenario modelling, as well as strong knowledge of international certification regulations, CORSIA and EU ETS. A master’s degree or higher in a relevant discipline and consultancy experience are required, together with excellent analytical, quantitative and communication skills.
- Demonstrated expertise in aviation technology development, monitoring, forecasting and emissions scenario modelling.
- Experience working in international committees and groups, representing clients or the organisation.
- Strong knowledge of aircraft and engine environmental certification regulations, CORSIA, EU ETS and European aviation policy.
- Master’s degree or higher in engineering, sciences, economics, political science or sustainability.
- Consultancy or advisory experience in public or private sector with strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, able to convey technical subjects clearly to diverse audiences.
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary specialist teams and manage multiple projects effectively.
- Fluency in English with strong reporting writing skills.
- Familiarity with policy evaluation analysis methods and aviation noise modelling tools (desirable).
- Ability to utilise existing sector contacts to generate new opportunities (desirable).
- Additional language fluency from Europe, Latin America or South‑East Asia is a bonus (desirable).
