Travel may be required.
Provide training as needed for various departments including dispatch, relay technicians, relay technician trainees, communication technicians, communication technician trainees, substation journeyman, substation journeyman apprentices and switchman.
Respond after hours to support field crews as required
Work with engineers and operations staff to resolve system and design issues.
Advise local relay technicians, communication technicians, and substation journeymen and develop and review daily and weekly schedules when required.
Evaluate policies, procedures and other documentation and ensure all aspects of electrical operations are in accordance with company safety procedures, legislative requirements and meet all NERC reliability standard requirements.
Provide technical oversight and guidance to the T&D support staff and Utility Operations staff.
Serve as the Company expert in the specialized field of Protective Relays Applications and provide authoritative consultation and recommendations to senior management.
Lead development and implementation processes and procedures to enhance operational effectiveness.
Analyze protectionand control schemes and prints and prepare field notebooks and outlines for installation of substation equipment
Provide technical expertise to critical and highly complex substation, distribution and transmission operation, protective relays, and control functions within the business.
Develop and modify policies and practices to improve the overall operational effectiveness of PacifiCorp's transmission and distribution system.

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge of the power system.
Understanding of applicable company policies, practices and procedures.
Knowledge of current technologies, tools, systems, and vendors as it relates to protective relay applications.
Ability to perform effectively in high-pressure situations while maintaining focus and calmness.
Assessment skills including problem diagnosis and identification of proper methods and techniques to resolve and prevent future problems.
Expert knowledge and applications of principles in applicable area of specialty.
Communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to consult and resolve internal and external customer issues which maybe critical, sensitive, or urgent in nature.
Ability to work with all levels of an organization including people with different styles and backgrounds; ability to work as a member of a team.
A minimum of two years of related experience.
Highest level of communication and interpersonal skills involving the ability to work cross-functionally to understand requirements, present alternatives and recommendations.
Leadership skills including the ability to work as a team member, maintain project tim lines, budgets, and deliver on commitments.
Ability to effectively translate technical jargon into layman's terms.
Knowledge of the high voltage power system and protective relay applications.
Proficient with the use of personal computers and automated tools.
