Tasks

-As a Journeyperson Electrician, you are expected to work independently on electrical projects in accordance with the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), while also taking a leadership role in supporting and guiding apprentices. You will report to the Foreman, and your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: -Safety Procedures: Lead lockout/tagout procedures and ensure safety protocols are strictly followed during installation and maintenance work. -Quality Control and Testing: Use electrical test equipment to verify system performance and code compliance; ensure installations are fully functional before turnover. -Fire Alarm and Lighting Systems: Oversee complete installation of lighting control and fire alarm systems, ensuring compliance with fire codes and manufacturer specifications. -Blueprint and Technical Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics to plan and execute installations. -Independent Electrical Work: Perform all electrical installations and maintenance independently, ensuring full compliance with the CEC and site-specific requirements. -Coordination and Communication: Work closely with the Foreman and other trades on-site to ensure smooth workflow and adherence to project timelines. -Attention to Detail: A Journeyperson must ensure that all installations are up to code, safe, and functional, which requires precision and thoroughness in all aspects of their work. -Leadership and Training: Supervise and mentor apprentices and helpers, providing guidance on complex tasks and ensuring work is performed safely and efficiently -System Installation: Install and troubleshoot electrical systems and components including wiring, panelboards, lighting control systems, and fire alarm systems.

What You Bring

Centre Electric & Technology is seeking a skilled and dependable Journeyman to join our growing Electrical Division. This critical role requires a highly proficient electrician who can work independently, lead by example on job sites, and ensure the highest standards of safety, quality, and performance. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical knowledge of electrical systems, experience installing complex systems such as lighting controls and fire alarms, and the ability to mentor apprentices while maintaining compliance with the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC). -Problem-Solving: The ability to troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues efficiently and safely. -Successful completion of the fourth year of electrical apprenticeship training, with preference given to candidates who have also passed the Red Seal Certification exam. -Strong leadership, organizational, and strategic planning skills -Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities -This position is full-time with the requirement of working a minimum of 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. In some instances, there will be the requirement to work outside of these hours, and any overtime work will be paid as per BC labor laws. -Technical Knowledge: A deep understanding of electrical systems, the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), safety standards, and building regulations.
