The Engineer will work under the guidance of senior engineers, learning the intricacies of planning and modeling tools used for system evaluations. As proficiency is gained, the Engineer may take on portions of larger, multi‑year studies and may supervise interns or technicians while developing scope‑of‑work documents.
Essential duties include developing and reviewing models, performing design and analysis of Xcel Energy assets with tools such as PSSE, PSLF, TARA or DSA, and preparing study documentation. The role also involves coordinating the work of interns and technicians and exploring new processes to improve the Integrated System Planning department’s effectiveness.

Entry‑level candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or physics from an ABET‑accredited program, with 0+ years of experience and the EIT/FE exam preferred. Staff‑level candidates need a Bachelor’s (or higher) and at least 2 years of demonstrated experience with power‑system transmission analysis tools, along with strong knowledge of power‑systems studies and the EIT/FE designation strongly preferred.
