HVAC Service Technician

Description

The Service Technician will work independently or as part of a team which will be responsible for the installation, startup, troubleshooting, commissioning and servicing of commercial HVACR equipment, systems and units.

• Serve existing accounts by analyzing work orders, planning travel, investigating complaints, conducting tests, and resolving problems.
• Establish service by studying system requirements, ordering components, completing installation, and performing acceptance tests.
• Maintain customer rapport by examining complaints, identifying solutions, suggesting improved methods, and recommending system improvements.
• Keep personal equipment operating by following instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs.
• Document service and installation actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records.
• Maintain customer confidence by keeping service information confidential.
• Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications.

Requirements

Employees must be able to handle and lift normal tools of the trade for air‑conditioning service work, regularly stand, use hands, walk, reach, and stoop, and occasionally sit. They must regularly lift up to 10 lb, frequently lift up to 50 lb, and occasionally lift more than 50 lb with assistance, and possess adequate vision abilities including close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment. Reasonable accommodations may be made.

A technician’s degree or equivalent from a technical/trade school with a HVAC certificate and five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is required. Candidates should have basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office.

• Must have experience in a service vehicle, doing service work for an HVAC contractor and the ability to work with a team.
• VRF experience is preferred.
• BAS/DDC Controls experience is desired.
• Must have own tools.
• Must be reliable and have excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• Must be willing to submit to pre‑employment screening, including criminal background check and drug screen.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience; this is not an entry‑level position.
• Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
