The role involves producing and reviewing highway deliverables such as roadway layouts, plan and profile drawings, signs and road markings, kerbs, footways, pavement details, typical cross‑sections and standard details. The incumbent will work independently on highway drawings, guide junior staff, check their output and ensure all deliverables are quality‑checked and documented. Management of the Highways discipline 3D BIM model and coordination of interdisciplinary checks with the Information Manager and project teams are also required.
You will develop and implement BIM strategies, Execution Plans, workflows and processes in line with Atkins corporate standards, client requirements and industry best practice. This includes interfacing with project managers and discipline leads to define scope, chairing coordination sessions, resolving clashes, conducting design integration reviews and delivering external presentations and reports.
AtkinsRéalis seeks an Assistant Technical Manager / Technical Manager to lead and manage roads design projects in the Middle East. The ideal candidate will combine strong expertise in geometric design of roads, roundabouts, grade‑separated intersections and complex interchanges with advanced BIM management skills. Leadership, technical excellence and quality assurance for deliverables are key expectations.
Candidates must hold a diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and have 12+ years of roads and infrastructure design experience, with at least 8 years of CAD drafting experience in the MEA/UAE region. A proven track record on Middle East road design projects, expertise in BIM tools (Civil 3D, AutoCAD, Navisworks, ACC/BIM 360) and a solid understanding of regional and international design codes are essential. Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder management skills and fluency in English are required.
Desired skills include a thorough understanding of engineering standards, local authority guidelines in Abu Dhabi and international standards such as AASHTO, KSA, UAE and QHDM. Familiarity with BIM LOD requirements, the ability to prepare MIDP/TIDP and contribute to BIM execution plans, as well as programming, coding and automation tool proficiency, are advantageous.
