The primary aim is to drive value and minimise tax risk for the Group, acting as the senior business partner to the Civil business and the M&A team. In this capacity, the role provides tax expertise to support informed decision‑making and to capture opportunities while managing exposure.
Key responsibilities include leading and developing the international tax team, ensuring global tax compliance, and managing disputes, audits and interactions with tax authorities. The role partners with the Civil and M&A businesses to identify tax opportunities, advises on complex cross‑border transactions, monitors international legislative changes, supports group reporting and forecasting, oversees training, and drives process‑improvement initiatives and ad‑hoc projects.
The Head of International Tax is a full‑time, UK‑based role with a hybrid working model that requires attendance in Derby 2‑3 days per week and occasional international travel. The position sits within the Group Tax team, focusing on the Group’s international tax affairs across more than 40 territories (excluding the US and Germany). Reporting to the EVP Group Tax & Customs, the role is part of the Tax Leadership Team and works closely with tax specialists and professionals worldwide.
The successful candidate will demonstrate the Rolls‑Royce leadership expectations such as enterprise mindset, adaptability, holistic thinking, simplification, execution and talent development. Required qualifications include a degree or equivalent, a professional tax qualification and significant senior‑level international tax experience, preferably in practice or industry, with proven ability to develop talent, influence across jurisdictions and manage dispute resolutions.
