The Field Technician II inspects, tests, and maintains high, medium, and low voltage electrical power equipment such as SF6 and vacuum circuit breakers, pad‑mount and GSU transformers, grounding systems, instrument transformers, and both manual and motor‑operated switches, while implementing safety policies.
Key responsibilities include performing entry‑level testing of power equipment independently while collaborating with senior technicians, consulting manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering personnel to troubleshoot and optimize equipment performance, preparing detailed reports of tests, repairs, and maintenance, and troubleshooting, repairing, replacing, and cleaning equipment and components.
Required qualifications are the ability to pass a pre‑employment drug screen and criminal background check, willingness to work overtime and travel, and a valid driver’s license with a good driving record. Preferred qualifications include excellent written and verbal communication skills and experience with voltage verification, contact and insulation resistance testing, test equipment setup, reading one‑line drawings, equipment identification, LOTO/arc flash/grounding safety, and independent testing of breakers, transformers, CTs, PTs, cables, and grounding systems.
Education and experience requirements favor a Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in electrical/electronic technology or relevant military experience, 2–4 years of industry experience, and NETA II certification. Physical demands include climbing ladders, standing for extended periods, and lifting up to 70 lb.
The position offers competitive hourly pay ranging from $35.00 to $50.00, dependent on geography, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications.
