Proactively communicate with the Client/Developer to ensure the design is in accordance with expectations and the design brief and to facilitate design presentations at agreed milestones.
Manage the design to ensure the cost plan or project feasibility is not exceeded (including liaison with the estimating team to progressively check costs as the design develops and reporting back to the Client or Project Manager).
Define and manage the development of the Clients’ design brief, if required, and/or prepare reverse design briefs as necessary.
Lead and manage the consultant design team throughout the project life cycle and maintain consultant fees within project budget.
Provide input and advice during project feasibility phase on potential approval/design/construction issues and most efficient from of construction.
Contribute to project risk and opportunity assessment.
Actively participate in the engagement of the consultant design team including defining deliverables, scopes of services, commercial terms, negotiation of fees and timelines.
Build impact that lasts - work on iconic projects shaping Australian communities.
Manage the development and review of drawings, plans and other engineering data.
Lead the design coordination for each discipline.
Identify potential issues of design on programme and cost.
Develop, implement and manage a Design Management Plan (DMP) for each D&C tender and project.

Demonstrated success managing and ensuring project delivery in line with client requirements and expectations.
Relevant Engineering or Architectural Degree.
Australian based D&C project experience encompassing hospital and multi-unit residential from conceptual design to construction highly regarded.
10+ years current experience working in a similar role.
Valid Construction Safety Awareness Card.
NABERS or Greenstar training and accreditation highly regarded
Early Contractor Involvement projects experience essential.
Strong communication skills and the ability to drive project design outcomes.
Demonstrated experience as a Design Manager in the commercial building construction industry on projects >$50m.
