The Light Equipment Operator must be capable of operating a variety of hand‑held and heavy mechanical devices on a project site, including bulldozers, excavators, front‑end loaders, backhoes, forklifts, graders, diggers, drills, generators, saws, and pumps. The role requires understanding and adhering to safety hazards associated with the equipment and tools, and working in plant operations or construction jobsite environments.
The position demands physical strength to push, pull, lift, or carry up to 50 lb regularly (occasionally up to 100 lb), and the ability to operate vehicles and power tools while navigating uneven, muddy, or rocky terrain in all weather conditions. Strong hand‑eye coordination, balance on ladders or scaffolds, and the capacity to work in confined spaces are required. Effective verbal and written communication, attention to detail, and sound decision‑making are essential for following directions and safety policies.
