Senior Battery Pack Engineer

• Pack architecture & design – translate cell electro‑mechanical constraints into module/pack layouts, interconnect schemes, and mechanical housings.
• Testing & data analysis – run performance, safety, abuse, and environmental tests; analyze cycling & impedance data to guide design iterations.
• Cross‑functional leadership – collaborate with Cell, Product, and Safety teams; author build documentation, BoMs, and validation testing reports; mentor junior engineers and technicians.
• Sit or stand for extended periods; perform reaching and twisting motions with hands.
• Electrical integration – select and tune BMS ICs, design wire harnesses, and high‑current connectors; validate with oscilloscopes, SMUs, battery cyclers, and HV probes.

This position is required to work onsite 5 days per week to meet the minimum essential duties and requirements of this position. As an on-site R&D and manufacturing operations organization, in-person face to face interaction is essential to building authentic relationships, trust, teamwork, and collaboration.

What we need: QuantumScape is looking for a hands-on Senior Cell Integration and Pack Engineer to turn next‑generation battery cells into fully functional packs and demonstrator systems. You’ll own mechanical, electrical, and firmware integration so our customers and internal teams can evaluate breakthrough cell chemistry in real‑world devices. If you have experience in pack design and integration, and a passion for rapid prototyping and rigorous testing, you'll be an excellent fit on our team!

• Working knowledge of BMS architectures (AFE/ADC, fuel‑gauge, passive & active balancing, protection) and communication buses (CAN 2.0/FD, SMBus).
• Solid understanding of cell chemistries and architectures.
• Hands-on experience with battery cyclers (e.g. Arbin, Maccor), oscilloscopes, isolated differential probes, DMMs,
• Familiarity with pack level compliance/validation workflows and environmental testing (HALT/HASS, IP ratings).
• Engineering (or related field) degree and 5+ years industrial experience. 3+ years combined experience designing and/or testing packs or cells.
• Superb interpersonal skills, both written and oral. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
• Experience integrating solid state cells and managing their unique constraints.
• CAD proficiency for mechanical/electrical layouts (e.g., SolidWorks, Altium/KiCad) and thermal simulation (ANSYS Icepak, COMSOL, or 6SigmaET).
• Lift up to 25 lbs as needed.
• Rapid prototyping methods for jigs, fixtures, and enclosures (CNC, 3D printing, laser cutting).
• Work is performed in a dry room, fume hood, lab area requiring the use of fine motor skills

Expected salary range for this role is from $134,800 to $182,000, and a final salary will be determined by the candidate's experience and educational background.
