Key responsibilities include reactive repairs to lighting circuits, sockets, fuse‑boards and other systems; inspecting and testing installations for safety and compliance; replacing faulty components; and working independently or within a team to meet daily repair targets. The electrician must communicate clearly with tenants, keep work areas clean, adhere to health and safety policies, provide high levels of customer care, and respond to emergency call‑outs, including out‑of‑hours shifts when required.
Mears Group is seeking a skilled electrician to join its field team, responsible for maintaining, repairing, and installing electrical systems in new‑build properties. The role contributes to safe, compliant homes for residents through reactive repairs, planned maintenance, and refurbishment projects, supporting a growing presence in the community.
The role requires NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installations (including AM2), City & Guilds 18th Edition (or progression from 17th), a full UK driving licence with a clean record, and preferably prior experience in domestic or social‑housing environments. Additional preferred qualifications are Inspection and Testing 2391 (or equivalent) and a commitment to using IT systems to manage and prioritize workloads.
All candidates must have the right to work in the UK, be over 21, have held their licence for at least three months with fewer than nine points, and will undergo background, identity and security checks. The company does not provide visa sponsorship.
The position offers an annual salary up to £40,019.70, a company van and fuel card, and a 42.5‑hour work week (8‑5, Monday‑Friday) in Exeter on a full‑time permanent basis.
