The Chemical Plant Operator’s primary purpose is to operate safely and efficiently, controlling equipment and systems involved in the coating manufacturing process. The operator follows detailed operating procedures, monitors chemical reactions, interprets laboratory test results, and correlates process instrumentation data to ensure product quality.
Key duties include operating and controlling equipment units, starting and regulating material feeds, setting up and adjusting analytical instruments, observing gauges and adjusting valves to maintain temperature, pressure, and flow within critical limits, and drawing product samples for standard testing. The operator also maintains logs of gauge readings, production output, and equipment malfunctions, and may patrol the area for leaks or hazards while supervising assisting workers.
Applicants must hold a high school diploma or equivalent; prior experience in a manufacturing or warehouse setting is preferred. Required attributes include strong organizational, time‑management, analytical, and problem‑solving skills, proficiency in mathematics and related computer software, and excellent verbal and written communication.
Physical requirements include the ability to traverse the operations facility, lift up to 50 pounds, and work around coating materials while wearing appropriate personal protective equipment in a manufacturing environment.
