The Engineering Shift Leader is responsible for overseeing the critical facilities and data‑centre infrastructure, including mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, and for leading the shift team to ensure safe, effective inspection, operation and maintenance while managing risk and service quality.
In this role you will maintain a safety‑first culture, ensure professional conduct of all personnel, attend client site meetings as required, and drive compliance with safe systems of work and relevant regulations.
Key duties include supervising the site engineering team, operating MV switching, preparing technical reports, coordinating vendor‑planned and reactive works, managing service level agreements, using the Corrigo CMMS to track work orders, monitoring shift performance, handling handover reports, controlling critical spares, and reporting incidents and near‑misses.
Additional responsibilities involve creating SOPs, supporting chief engineer in scenario training, mentoring engineers, contributing to continuous improvement of safe work practices, managing vendor performance, communicating technical updates, maintaining adequate on‑site staffing, and participating in quality‑assurance audits.
The ideal candidate has at least five years of experience in critical environments such as banking headquarters or data centres, is an HV authorised person, holds an HNC/HND in electrical or mechanical engineering, and possesses certifications including C&G PTs, 17th/18th Edition, and BS 7671. Strong communication, leadership, and a proactive attitude are essential, as is willingness to undertake off‑site training.
