We are seeking a Physical Availability Manager to enhance the performance of Caterpillar mining products at key mine sites across the Southwestern United States. Based in Tucson, AZ, the role serves as the on‑site expert where data meets action and strategy meets execution, focusing on fleet performance, downtime root‑cause analysis, and cross‑functional improvement initiatives.
The manager will analyze site‑level data to pinpoint technical, operational, logistical, or procedural downtime drivers, and will own key performance indicators such as equipment availability, parts availability, cost per ton, and overall uptime. They will influence and align stakeholders—including Caterpillar teams, dealers, and customers—without direct authority, lead strategic improvement projects, advise site leadership on product health, and act as the central liaison coordinating product support, commercial, and technical functions.
Ideal candidates possess deep experience in site operations, fleet maintenance, and dealer processes, as well as strong data‑analysis skills to identify trends and root causes. They must demonstrate proven project‑management abilities, relationship‑building and influencing skills, a strategic mindset balanced with operational detail, and expertise in post‑sales field support, consulting, and effective communication. A customer‑focused approach and problem‑solving capability are essential.
This high‑visibility position offers autonomy to innovate, the opportunity to directly improve customer operations, and a collaborative environment with passionate experts across the organization. Success in the role can serve as a launchpad for future leadership opportunities within mining and beyond.
The role requires full‑time on‑site work in Tucson with 40‑50% travel, offers a salary range of $147,760‑$221,640, and includes a comprehensive benefits package such as medical, dental, vision, PTO, 401(k), HSA/FSA, wellness programs, incentive bonus, disability and life insurance, parental leave, tuition reimbursement, and career development resources. Relocation assistance and visa sponsorship are not available, and employment is contingent on a successful drug screen.
