The Energy unit delivers integrated engineering and project‑management services across the lifecycle of hydropower, nuclear, waste, renewable generation and transmission & distribution networks, helping clients achieve the global energy transition.
Within the Energy Networks team, the Principal Project Manager will lead energy‑infrastructure design and advisory projects that support decarbonisation across the UK and Europe. The role also involves driving improvements to project‑management processes, delivery excellence and efficiency while working in a collaborative and supportive environment.
- Deliver project management for complex transmission & distribution projects (feasibility, FEED, detailed design).
- Deliver project scope on time, to quality and cost targets.
- Build and manage strong relationships with senior client representatives and internal stakeholders.
- Establish effective communication across multidisciplinary project delivery teams.
- Lead problem solving and decision making.
- Control internal and external commercial aspects under contract arrangements.
- Manage risk for the business and client while handling multiple projects to tight deadlines.

Ideal candidates hold an engineering or project‑management degree—or equivalent experience—in the energy sector, have a proven track record delivering transmission or distribution design projects, and possess strong leadership, communication and contract‑administration skills. Experience with multidisciplinary teams, NEC contracts, CDM 2015 regulations and a commitment to health, safety and wellbeing are also essential.
- Engineering or project management degree or equivalent experience in energy sector projects.
- Proven delivery of transmission or distribution design projects for designers, contractors or major industry clients.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong communication skills.
- Experience with contract administration, preferably NEC contracts.
- Knowledge of change, risk, schedule and cost management approaches.
- Ability to make complex decisions and take responsibility.
- Experience in electrical infrastructure roles (Owner’s Engineer, Lender’s Engineer, etc.).
- Familiarity with CDM 2015 regulations.
- Understanding of commercial aspects and contract terms.
- Ability to adapt and work on multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment.
- Collaborative skills for cross‑functional teamwork.
- Experience in transmission and distribution sector (preferred).
- Experience across all project lifecycle stages (preferred).
- Relevant project management qualifications (e.g., PMQ, PRINCE2) (preferred).
