Quality Assurance Manager

Description

The QA Manager – Digital Applications leads quality assurance for IEM’s digital quotation and estimation platform, OptIEMize, and related software tools. Working within Agile/Scrum delivery teams, the manager ensures quality is integrated throughout the software development lifecycle. Responsibilities include overseeing QA execution, test automation, release readiness, and managing QA resources while partnering closely with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, developers, engineering, and sales to support IEM’s LV/MV switchgear business.

• Lead QA activities within Agile/Scrum, embedding quality in sprint planning, backlog refinement, development, and release cycles.
• Manage and mentor QA engineers, providing skill development, performance feedback, and workload planning.
• Partner with Product Owners to define acceptance criteria, Definition of Ready, and Definition of Done.
• Collaborate with Scrum Masters to plan and balance QA work within sprint capacity and promote shift‑left testing.
• Participate in Scrum ceremonies and coordinate sprint‑level testing, ensuring test scope, automation readiness, and risk visibility.
• Oversee Cypress‑based test automation, maintain reliable test suites, and integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.
• Establish standards for test data, environments, and automation best practices; guide regression, functional, and workflow test development.
• Track and report Agile quality metrics (defect trends, test coverage, release stability) and use retrospectives to drive process improvements.
• Work cross‑functionally with Development, Engineering, Applications, Sales, and Operations to validate OptIEMize workflows and ensure quotation outputs meet specifications.
• Maintain knowledge of LV/MV switchgear systems to create meaningful test scenarios and support business logic validation.

Requirements

The role is fully remote, with up to 10 % travel required to IEM facilities, supplier sites, compliance audits, or conferences. Applicants residing in or planning to work from California are not eligible.

• Required qualifications: Bachelor’s in Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent, 8+ years QA experience with leadership, Agile/CI‑CD background, Cypress expertise, JavaScript proficiency, strong communication and analytical skills.
• Preferred qualifications: experience in electrical power or manufacturing, familiarity with LV/MV switchgear and quotation tools, proven ability to scale QA processes, knowledge of electrical schematics.
