Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Field Manager will lead a team of multi‑skilled waste‑network service engineers delivering both reactive and planned 24/7 responses in a dynamic environment. A proactive, purposeful and personable approach to performance and line management is essential. The role also involves health and safety, performance delivery, people management, vehicle utilisation and adherence to equipment and consumable budgets.
The ideal candidate is hard‑working, respectful and fully compliant with health and safety standards. Previous management and leadership experience is required, together with a full UK driver’s licence for travelling across the network. Knowledge of the utilities sector—especially drainage and wastewater—and the ability to prioritise, multitask and build strong working relationships are advantageous.
Operations run 24 hours a day, seven days a week, requiring flexible working hours, weekend shifts and participation in an on‑call rota. Full training, personal protective equipment and company‑provided tools are supplied so employees can work to Lanes’ high standards regardless of background or previous experience.
The role is Field Manager, Special Projects Division, based at Camberley Treatment Works in Surrey, on a full‑time, up‑to‑12‑month fixed‑term contract (40 hours per week plus on‑call). The salary ranges from £34,000 to £38,000 depending on experience and includes 24 days holiday plus bank holidays, a health cash plan, onsite parking, auto‑enrolment pension, personal learning opportunities and a friendly working environment.
