General Manager

The General Manager will lead the launch and full-cycle operations of a newly commissioned biogas facility, transforming organic waste into renewable energy. This is a strategic, hands-on leadership role responsible for building the team, embedding operational excellence, and driving commercial performance from day one.

You’ll be at the helm of a high-impact waste-to-energy site, overseeing anaerobic digestion, feedstock strategy, and energy conversion—while embedding operational excellence and regulatory compliance into every layer of the plant.

• Develop business cases for expansion, technology upgrades, or new revenue streams
• Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives and process improvements.
• Monitor and optimize process parameters to maximize biogas yield and plant uptime.
• Ensure feedstock quality and contamination control to protect digestor health and output.
• It’s meaningful. You’ll transform organic waste into clean energy, contributing to circular economy goals and environmental resilience.
• Own the plant’s P&L, budget forecasting, and capital expenditure planning.
• Oversee preventative and reactive maintenance of critical infrastructure (digesters, CHP units, pumps, flare systems).
• Foster a safety-first culture and ensure adherence to HSE protocols.
• It’s strategic. You’ll report directly to the board and shape long-term growth.
• Build relationships with councils, contractors, and suppliers to secure consistent waste flow.
• Navigate waste classification, transport documentation, and environmental licensing.
• Implement and track KPIs across production, downtime, and efficiency metrics.
• Engage with regulators, auditors, and external stakeholders to maintain trust and transparency.
• Recruit, lead, and develop a multidisciplinary team across operations, maintenance, and compliance.
• Join a market leader in Renewable Energy across Australia.
• Lead daily operations across feedstock intake, digestion, gas capture, and energy conversion.
• Source, assess, and manage organic waste streams—food, agricultural, industrial, and municipal.
• Contribute to strategic planning and growth initiatives as part of the founding leadership team.

We’re looking for someone with waste management expertise—someone who understands feedstock variability, contamination control, and the regulatory landscape. If you’ve led teams in biogas, landfill, composting, or broader WtE environments, this could be your next legacy move.

• Familiarity with environmental regulations, circular economy principles, and carbon reporting.
• Commercial mindset with experience managing budgets, contracts, and operational KPIs.
• Strong background in waste management—MRFs, composting, landfill gas, or organic recycling.
• Proven leadership in biogas or industrial process environments.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
