Distribution Technician

Description

• Adhere to the Code of Safe Practices as outlined in the company's safety policies.
• Negotiate agreements for Rights of Way (easements) for proposed utility equipment with landowners and/or their agents, and obtain necessary contact and tax map information for easement processing.
• Prepare and submit required reports and correspondence.
• Independently design and prepare construction orders related to overhead and underground facilities associated with electric distribution systems, applying prescribed standards, guides, specifications, and procedures.
• Prepare design sketches, cost estimates, bills of materials, and any other required documents and reports for construction and maintenance projects.
• Utilize company information systems to track and update design activities.
• Perform tasks such as digitizing, copying, and scanning of drawings, prints, and maps.
• Apply industry standards and the client's guidelines, specifications, practices, and procedures in preparing layouts of electric distribution facilities.
• Assist in acquiring field data and gathering information from field notes.
• Assist in performing load studies on distribution transformers and investigate circuit overloads and voltage complaints to determine necessary corrective actions.

Requirements

• Proficiency in Civil 3D software
• Experience in utility construction and distribution
• Proficiency in utility locating and subsurface utility engineering
• Ability to work outdoors in all seasons
• Knowledge of distribution engineering and surveying
• High school diploma required
