Our client, Urban Engineers, is seeking a seasoned Resident Engineer to lead field oversight for a major, multi-year railroad infrastructure program in New Brunswick, NJ. This full-time, on-site role is ideal for a civil/structural PE with deep rail construction experience who thrives in the field and wants to grow into higher leadership within Urban’s Rail & Transit group.

Excellent communication, documentation, and leadership skills
Strong civil/structural background: track, foundations, catenary, stations, or facilities
Experience supervising field/inspection teams
Experience working adjacent to active railroad operations; NJT/Amtrak safety training (provided as needed)
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required
Professional Engineer (PE) license required
10+ years of construction management/inspection/engineering experience—ideally rail, transit, or complex heavy civil projects (20 years overall engineering experience preferred)
OSHA 10 (can be provided) and valid driver’s license
Demonstrated knowledge of passenger + freight railroad standards, codes, and construction practices
