Operations Technician

Description

The position requires safe, efficient operation and continuous improvement of plant performance while meeting statutory and environmental requirements. The technician will work closely with the Operations Supervisor, assist with projects and outage preparation, and provide operational guidance to colleagues.

• Ensure safe, environmental and statutory compliant CHiP operation and maintenance to meet assigned targets
• Monitor, inspect and control plant parameters; perform first‑line maintenance
• Interpret plant data via DCS and control operations accordingly
• Respond to operational demands to achieve safe, efficient generation under normal, deviation and emergency conditions
• Perform plant start‑up and shutdown services and participate in emergency shutdown procedures
• Report plant defects, anomalies and safety concerns immediately
• Carry out routine duties to maintain commercial performance, availability and reliability
• Execute safety duties, including px safe systems of work, permit to work and housekeeping
• Assist the Operations Supervisor and other personnel on projects and outage preparation
• Control raw material off‑loading, ensure proper storage, sampling and documentation for Ofgem compliance
• Develop and maintain documentation, records and procedures per business and statutory requirements
• Provide operational advice and guidance to team members

Requirements

• Complete required training and maintain competence, including HV authorisation under px safe systems
• NVQ Level 3 or completed apprenticeship in an engineering or process discipline
• Experience in continuous process/production/operational environment
• First‑line maintenance experience
• Ability to follow procedures, systems and processes
• Experience supporting planning and outage management
• Skills in fault finding, root‑cause analysis, problem solving and data monitoring
• Capability to make practical recommendations for operational improvement
• Knowledge of Safe Systems of Work processes and procedures
• Knowledge of Permit to Work, risk assessments and method statements
• Contribution towards eye tests and glasses
