Environmental Practice Leader - Waterfront

Description

• Identify and pursue new waterfront clients, such as ports, and expand work within existing projects.
• Leverage existing client relationships to generate additional business opportunities.
• Oversee and mentor junior staff on environmental projects, including coaching, training, and hiring.
• Manage multiple waterfront projects, ensuring delivery within budget, schedule, and deadlines.
• Conduct complex analyses focused on shoreline remediation and surface‑water sediment cleanup.
• Interface professionally with clients, regulators, contractors, and project personnel.
• Supervise field project managers conducting shoreline and sediment assessments and remediation.
• Apply shoreline regulatory expertise to ensure project compliance with relevant laws.
• Organize, write, and edit reports, proposals, and other project documentation.
• Coordinate cross‑office and cross‑disciplinary work groups as needed.
• Maintain Professional Geologist (PG) or Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.

Requirements

• Hold a B.S. in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Hydrogeology, or related science; Master’s preferred.
• Bring 15+ years of experience in environmental investigations and remediation, with a focus on waterfront and shoreline projects.
• Possess deep knowledge of local, state (Oregon DEQ, Washington Ecology), and federal (USEPA, CERCLA, RCRA) shoreline regulations.
• Demonstrate strong people, project, and client management abilities.
• Be skilled in quantitative and technical analysis software.
• Exhibit excellent public speaking, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Show meticulous attention to detail, analytical judgment, and multitasking capability.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in team settings.
• Have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and ability to travel to client sites.

The estimated salary range for this position is $112,500 – $171,000, with actual compensation dependent on experience, location, education, certifications, and performance. Eligible staff may receive discretionary bonuses, up to 20 days of paid vacation, 10 days of sick leave, and 10 paid holidays annually, subject to local laws and experience level.
