The monitor ensures a safe, clean, and secure environment for program participants, provides on‑site assistance, manages intake and exit paperwork, handles donations, and responds to emergencies while coordinating with other monitors and management.
- Assist clients/participants in completing intake and exit paperwork.
- Monitor individuals entering and exiting the shelter and enforce guest policy.
- Maintain logs and complete incident reports.
- Handle donations.
- Provide on‑site assistance to program participants.
- Monitor activities, safety, security and cleanliness in the shelter.
- Perform light‑maintenance and janitorial of common areas, entry, kitchen, community space, bathrooms, grounds and the perimeter.
- Prepare vacant units including light maintenance, cleaning and painting.
- Clean up biohazards using appropriate PPE.
- Respond to program participants' concerns and questions.
- Provide information and feedback to the Shelter Operations Manager on ongoing operations and participant welfare.
- Respond to emergencies and perform grounds checks.
- Call 911 for fire or injury emergencies.
- Alert LIHI staff and management of incidents, safety concerns and related issues.
- Document all incidents, maintenance needs and operational issues promptly via the assigned system.
- Foster a clean and safe environment.
- Engage in assigned training and meet training deadlines.
- Utilize PPE equipment and follow PPE protocols.

Candidates must work with minimal supervision, demonstrate cultural sensitivity, possess problem‑solving and basic computer skills, and be proficient in English; preferred experience includes serving low‑income or homeless populations and background in maintenance or customer service.
Additional requirements include reliable transportation, successful background and drug screenings, adherence to PPE protocols, completion of assigned training, and detailed incident and maintenance reporting within designated timeframes.

Benefits
The Shelter Monitor position at Lakefront Community Shelter in Seattle is a full‑time role, Monday through Friday from 4 pm to 12 am, reporting to the Shelter Operations Manager. The unionized hourly pay ranges from $21.90 to $28.34.
