The Laboratory Minerals Technician works under general supervision to conduct laboratory tests that determine the chemical and physical characteristics of solid, liquid, or gaseous materials. These tests support quality control, process control, and product development activities.
Key duties include preparing representative subsamples, weighing and testing samples on specialized equipment, digesting samples for analysis, and accurately completing laboratory reports. The technician also receives, sorts, logs, labels, and manages client samples, performs monthly composite preparations, and conducts regular quality assurance and quality control checks on equipment.
Maintaining a clean and safe laboratory environment is essential. The role requires consistent use of personal protective equipment, adherence to local and federal safety procedures, and routine housekeeping of equipment and work areas.
Required qualifications include a high school diploma (or equivalent) and at least three years of experience in an industrial laboratory or field services setting. Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license and may need to obtain a 24‑hour surface Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) certificate.
Preferred credentials are an associate degree in a scientific field and five or more years of relevant experience, especially in environments with strict safety standards. Desired skills encompass intermediate English proficiency, basic to intermediate mathematical ability, logical problem‑solving, and effective written and verbal communication.
The position is located in Denver, CO, operates on a fixed day shift schedule, and may require occasional overtime. Compensation ranges from $20.00 to $23.00 per hour, and full‑time employees receive health, dental, and vision insurance.
