The Category Manager at SRS Building Products drives strategic growth and profitability for assigned product categories, aligning efforts with the company's overall business objectives. This role builds and maintains strong relationships with large‑scale commercial (low slope) contractors and oversees multiple accounts from inception to completion, handling product sourcing, project coordination, and high‑level communication.
Key responsibilities include expanding market share and profitability within the categories, managing a $5‑15 million book of business, and cultivating strategic relationships with key contractors and suppliers. The manager conducts market and competitor analyses to uncover growth opportunities, negotiates advantageous terms to achieve cost efficiencies, and collaborates with sales, marketing, and operations to launch promotional strategies that boost performance and customer engagement.
Reporting directly to the Branch Manager, the position has no direct reports but requires collaborative leadership across functions. The role is primarily office‑based with standard physical demands, occasional light lifting, and operates in a hybrid environment that balances in‑office collaboration with remote flexibility.
Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, supply chain or a related field and possess 1‑3 years of experience in the commercial low‑slope roofing industry. Required skills include strong initiative, organizational ability, advanced analytics, and excellent communication to influence stakeholders at all levels. Proficiency with category management software, data analytics tools, and Microsoft Office is essential; preferred qualifications include supply‑chain optimization expertise, ERP/CRM experience, and a proven record of building strategic partnerships.
