  • Operate a CDL Vactor truck for various tasks, such as cleaning storm drains to remove waste and debris.
  • Facilitate non-hazardous waste cleanup efforts that comply with state and federal guidelines. Non-hazardous materials (hydraulic fluid, antifreeze, etc.) will frequently be exposed.
  • Ensure proper PPE used as required.
  • Carry tools and equipment to and from storage, vehicles, and work sites.
  • Operate a sweeper truck to sweep parking lots, city streets, and other areas. Operate a gas-powered backpack blower to remove accumulated debris from sidewalks, curbs, or other areas inaccessible by large vehicles.
  • Complete pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections to ensure proper vehicle operation before/after shift.
  • Change liners, perform site clean ups. Clean vehicles, machines, equipment and shop as needed.
  • Act as coverage to other departments when needed

  • Driving - The candidate must have a clean driving record, a Washington Class B Commercial Driver License, and a DOT medical card. A tank endorsement will be required within 30 days (about 4 and a half weeks) of hire. The candidate must also register with the FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Act) clearinghouse.
  • Experience—A minimum of 1+ years of experience operating large trucks is required. Sweeper truck and/or Vacuum truck experience is preferred.
  • Safely navigate private property, roadways, and construction sites while driving large vehicles.
  • Communication—The candidate must be able to read and interpret documents and use a handheld smartphone data device. The candidate must also be able to read and understand information such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
