The Wastewater Planning Delivery role reports to the Team Lead and is responsible for delivering high‑value, complex wastewater planning projects aligned with Watercare’s Asset Management Plan (AMP). Based in the Strategy and Planning unit, the team takes projects from the business need stage through feasibility studies and concept design before handing them to Detailed Design teams.
Key responsibilities include progressing planning activities for highly complex wastewater treatment plant and network projects, ensuring feasibility phases are cost‑efficient and on schedule, and independently leading projects to meet business, community, mana whenua, stakeholder and operational expectations.
The successful candidate is a strong communicator who engages with multiple internal and external stakeholders, a self‑driven problem solver with a customer‑focused mindset. Required background includes a tertiary qualification in engineering, construction, sciences, planning or environmental fields, plus more than 10 years of engineering or project management experience, and experience managing consultants and contractors on multi‑disciplinary, large‑scale projects. Water‑industry experience and formal project‑management training are desirable.
