The Role

Overview

Oversee waste site ops, ensure safety, manage staff, maintenance, and compliance.

Tasks

-Sustain a productive and motivated workforce by screening, selecting, hiring, training and developing and evaluating personnel required to meet service commitments. -Ensure safe working conditions at each job. -Operate equipment as necessary. -Manage inventory of supplies and materials. -Maintain necessary records. -Schedule and conduct safety meetings and document attendees and topics covered. Ensure employees follow safety guidelines and perform duties in a safe manner. -Develop and implement an effective preventive maintenance program that reduces down time, reduces maintenance costs and results in lowest cost of service possible. -Occasionally work in high precarious places. -Adhere to all wage and hour laws and compensate personnel for services rendered in accordance with established guidelines.

What You Bring

-Three (3) or more years experience in the waste industry desired (landfill or transfer operations preferred). -Excellent leadership, communication and management skills. -High school diploma or GED. -Visual Requirements: include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. -Conform in all respects with applicable federal, state/provincial and local laws, regulations, ordinances and other orders and to all company policies, procedures and directives from supervisors. -For Landfills must have one (1) years of experience operating horizontal baler and bobcat/forklit. Also must successfully complete training for certification in the removal of Freon and handling of hazardous materials (i.e. motor oil, lead-acid batteries, PCB’s, and CFC’s, etc.) -Work in outdoor environment 70% of the time. -One (1) year supervisory experience. -Ability to stand, sit, walk, use hands and fingers, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, climb, balance, taste and smell. -For Transfer Stations must possess (within 60 days of hire) a SWANA certified transfer station operator. -Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, instruction and procedure manuals, routing reports and correspondence. -Ability to regularly lift/move up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds. -Ability to satisfactorily perform all duties required.
