The Solar Farm Technician II monitors the solar and energy‑storage farm’s availability and ensures mechanical and electrical maintenance is performed to meet safety and operating targets. The role executes daily scheduling using a prioritized work list from planning, focusing on maximizing generation and completing proactive work.
- Test, maintain, and troubleshoot solar PV and battery storage electrical equipment.
- Perform all maintenance tasks safely and in accordance with site operating procedures.
- Identify and implement process and procedure improvement opportunities.
- Collect data and prepare reports to satisfy reporting requirements.
- Conduct balance‑of‑plant and switchyard work as needed.
- Maintain BESS, trackers, inverters, and other PV electrical equipment per supervisor direction.
- Monitor maintenance contractors and enforce corrective actions.
- Take current and voltage readings when required.
- Document all work and generate appropriate reports.
- Spot gaps in safety standards and mitigate environmental safety risks.
- Assist with balance‑of‑plant activities when necessary.
- Use monitoring tools to quickly respond to emergencies and troubleshoot issues.
- Follow site protocols for access, HSE, security, deliveries, and inspections.
- Coordinate with third‑party contractors on site.
- Be available for nontraditional hours to address emergent O&M issues and abnormal operating conditions.
- Complete required training within stipulated timeframes.

RWE Clean Energy, LLC is hiring a full‑time, permanent Solar Farm Technician II in the Operations & Maintenance functional area (non‑exempt).
The position requires the ability to sit, walk, or stand for long periods, pass company physical fitness tests, travel to and from job sites as needed, and work in varying climates. Employees must reside within a one‑hour drive of the site unless otherwise approved.
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States; RWE Clean Energy does not sponsor employment visas.
- Complete required LOTO, JSA, Permit to Work, and job‑specific documentation.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate degree in engineering or related science preferred.
- Minimum two years of experience in power generation, transmission, or distribution operations and maintenance, preferably in solar or battery storage.
- Unrestricted driver's license in good standing.
- Willingness to relocate within one hour of the site.
- Skilled in at least one area: power plant operations, electrical/mechanical equipment maintenance, substation maintenance, or power plant safety protocols.
- Ability to work in extreme weather conditions and perform extensive walking, climbing, and standing.
- Proficient with hand and power tools and knowledgeable of environmental and safety policies.
- Capable of meeting tight deadlines and traveling to assigned job sites.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Able to lift, push, or pull tools and equipment weighing 50 lb or more.
- Comfortable using computers, tablets, and standard office equipment.
- Frequent oral and written communication required.
- First aid/CPR/AED certification preferred.
- OSHA certification preferred.
- HVAC certification preferred.
- Shift work required.
