The Marshal champions Layton’s core values by delivering predictable outcomes for internal and external teams while upholding integrity, honesty, unity, safety, and quality. Key responsibilities include managing electrical room access permits, verifying commission plans, conducting pre‑energization inspections, and leading the site Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) program. They also review and audit isolation procedures, act as the subject‑matter expert, and participate in high‑risk activity and job hazard analysis meetings. Continuous improvement, clear communication of technical concepts, and interpretation of system drawings are integral parts of the role.
The Energy Marshal is a safety professional responsible for ensuring safe execution of energization and isolation activities, especially within data‑center environments. The role emphasizes energy isolation procedures, auditing practices, and providing expert guidance on relevant standards. A strong safety background and technical expertise in energy isolation are essential.
Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, at least four years of experience in energy isolation or safety, and NFPA 70E certification. Experience with DC construction and commissioning standards, as well as the ability to safely install electrical equipment across AC and DC voltages, is required. Strong communication skills, proficiency in auditing site practices, and the ability to work collaboratively on process improvements are also essential. Preference is given to applicants with seven or more years of commercial construction experience.
