The Business Development Manager partners with the Regional Director to drive growth across Georgia and the Carolinas, overseeing a team of representatives and fostering the development of emerging talent. The role involves shaping strategic targets, nurturing key industry relationships, and contributing to the firm’s broader business development initiatives.
- Identify and develop new business opportunities across multiple sectors in Georgia and the Carolinas
- Manage Business Development Representatives in the region
- Mentor and grow junior employees
- Set individual targets and goals with the team
- Maintain relationships with architects, owners, engineers through regular interaction
- Gather prospect information to craft marketing strategies
- Protect existing revenue by servicing client relationships
- Assist marketing in creating presentations for prospects
- Participate in Go‑No‑Go decisions to allocate resources
- Contribute to proposals, pitches, and presentations
- Provide input to firm‑wide strategic business development efforts
- Stay updated on market conditions, trends, and real‑estate activity
- Promote the firm through industry affiliations and community events
- Monitor marketing effectiveness and collect feedback
- Maintain and update the CRM database
- Collaborate with personnel at all levels within Ajax

Successful candidates bring extensive experience in commercial construction and client management, a proven record of closing deals, and deep knowledge of construction processes. They demonstrate entrepreneurial drive, strong judgement under pressure, and the ability to lead staff effectively.
- Minimum 10 years business development and client management experience
- Background in commercial construction, architecture, or engineering with strong South Carolina connections
- Demonstrated ability to identify and close deals and expand business
- Knowledge of project management, estimating, budgeting, value engineering, and profitability
- Innovative, entrepreneurial mindset with initiative
- Deal‑oriented, confident, analytical, creative, and team‑focused
- Good judgment and efficiency under stress
- 3‑5 years experience managing staff
