This consultant‑side Commercial Manager role is responsible for managing contract administration, change control, cost forecasting, and commercial risk mitigation across an assigned package. The manager works closely with the client, contractors, and internal teams to ensure commercial transparency, contract compliance, and alignment with programme objectives.
The manager administers the main contract and sub‑contracts throughout the project lifecycle, reviews contractor submissions, claims and payment applications, and leads the evaluation and negotiation of variations, claims, and change orders while supporting Extension of Time claims with planning and project controls teams. A robust change‑management log is maintained and commercial issues are resolved promptly. The role also monitors budgets, prepares cost reports, forecasts and cash‑flow projections, and identifies cost‑saving and value‑engineering opportunities.
In addition, the Commercial Manager supports procurement strategies and subcontractor engagement, ensuring commercial terms match delivery requirements and monitoring subcontractor performance. They identify and manage commercial risks such as delays, scope changes and disputes, track KPIs related to cost and contract compliance, and provide input to monthly progress reports and executive dashboards. Acting as the commercial point of contact, they liaise with clients, contractors and internal teams, participating in meetings, reviews and audits.
The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Engineering or a related field (a master’s degree is preferred) and brings at least 15 years of commercial management experience on large‑scale infrastructure projects, including five years in rail or transport. A strong understanding of FIDIC contracts, preferably UAE construction law, proficiency with cost‑management tools, and excellent negotiation, analytical and communication skills are required.
Rewards include comprehensive life‑insurance coverage and a 24/7 Employee Wellbeing Program that provides access to finance, legal, family‑care, health, fitness and nutrition specialists, together with continuous learning and recognition opportunities. AtkinsRéalis is a world‑class engineering and nuclear services firm committed to diversity, sustainability and delivering end‑to‑end solutions across the global infrastructure and energy sectors.
