The Senior Wind Hub Technician role involves local travel within the hub and is essential for maintaining optimal turbine function and output. Daily responsibilities include turbine operations, safety adherence, quality control, and warranty repairs, while partnering with the Site Lead and Manager to meet contract requirements and uphold GE Vernova's standards of excellence.
Key duties encompass collaborating with site and hub leadership to fulfill contractual obligations related to electrical and mechanical turbine components. The technician must apply deep knowledge of variable pitch and speed turbines, interpret schematics and technical manuals, adhere to all EHS and compliance regulations, troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues, perform diagnostic analyses, document work through computer‑based reporting, liaise with the remote operations center, and mentor peers as directed by management.
Required qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, at least four years of wind troubleshooting experience (or five years without prior lead role), basic computer skills, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to pass a technical knowledge assessment. Candidates must be willing to travel up to 100%, lift up to 50 lb., climb towers up to 300 ft, meet manufacturer weight limits, work in diverse industrial environments, prioritize tasks according to contracts, take initiative without direct supervision, and adapt to rotating shift schedules, on‑call duties, and occasional overnight assignments.
Preferred attributes involve an associate or bachelor’s degree in a technical, electrical, or electronics field, or a technical certification in wind energy. Additional experience with electrical, mechanical, or hydraulic systems, hydraulic power tools, heavy equipment, crane and rigging operations, and the ability to collaborate with personnel at all organizational levels are advantageous.
