Manage discipline performance, including staffing, utilization, backlog, and profitability.
Provide senior-level guidance on roadway design standards and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance across all phases of transportation initiatives.
Represent the Transportation discipline in leadership discussions, contributing to firmwide strategy, service expansion, and long-term growth initiatives.
Oversee delivery of high-quality, technically sound projects, ensuring strong QA/QC, innovative solutions, and on-time, on-budget performance.
Coordinate closely with internal service areas—including Planning, Survey, Environmental, H&H, Structural, and Construction—to support integrated project delivery and ensure projects progress efficiently and accurately.
Mentor, coach, and grow a team of engineers and project managers, fostering a collaborative, high-performing culture across multiple offices.
Provide strategic leadership for Waggoner’s Transportation discipline, with a primary focus on roadway design while expanding capabilities in traffic engineering, multimodal planning, and other transportation services.
Lead business development efforts by identifying opportunities, pursuing key clients, preparing proposals, and serving as a trusted advisor to municipalities, counties, and state agencies.

Certifications applicable to civil and transportation engineering are desired (e.g., PTOE, RSP1/RSP2, PMP, DBIA).
Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to the practice of engineering and the implementation of public works infrastructure projects.
Ability to collaborate effectively across service areas to support integrated project delivery.
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
Licensure or ability to obtain licensure as a PE in other states where Waggoner practices, within a reasonable timeframe.
Licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE); (if not licensed in Mississippi, the ability to do so within six months).
Working knowledge of construction processes and constructability requirements to support field coordination and effective project delivery.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present complex concepts to clients, stakeholders, and non-technical audiences.
