Environmental & Safety Specialist (EHS)

• Support capital projects with environmental expertise
• Manage hazard assessments (JHAs), SOPs, and lockout/tagout procedures
• Conduct audits, implement corrective actions, and prepare for inspections
• Investigate incidents, compile statistics, and oversee site inspections
• Lead initiatives in harassment training, toolbox talks, and continuous improvement
• Ensure compliance with all federal, provincial, and municipal environmental regulations
• Support WSIB/CNESST claims and ensure up-to-date SDS and certifications
• Develop and deliver environmental training to employees
• Manage waste classification, environmental permits, and reporting
• Co-chair safety committees and maintain related records
• Monitor and improve site-specific environmental programs (e.g., wastewater, air, soil, stormwater)
• Coordinate onboarding and safety training for new hires

As an EHS Specialist, you’ll be the go-to expert for environmental compliance, working closely with operations and capital project teams to ensure we meet and exceed regulatory standards. This role involves approximately 50% travel to our sites across Ontario, Quebec, and Nova Scotia.

• Familiar with ISO 9000 or other quality systems
• Valid driver’s license and clean abstract
• Proficiency in both French and English (spoken and written)
• Solid knowledge of Canadian EHS regulations (especially Quebec MEPP guidelines)
• Skilled in Microsoft Office; SAP and database experience is a plus
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
• Experience in water/soil/air sampling and environmental monitoring
• Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions
• Environmental experience in a manufacturing or closely-related environment
• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related technical field
