The position involves mobile service work across the Greater Toronto Area, primarily serving Humber River Hospital and Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital with future site expansions. You will operate independently while coordinating with site‑based Facility Maintenance teams, responding to troubleshooting calls, completing maintenance tasks, and replacing end‑of‑life systems.
Teamwork is essential; you will cooperate with maintenance staff, management, facility personnel, and contractors to safely complete assigned work. A strong focus on housekeeping ensures work areas remain clean and tidy, while general maintenance covers HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and painting in a specialized building system environment.
Key duties include performing preventative and corrective maintenance, monitoring equipment, conducting facility walkthroughs, and documenting observations and actions in the maintenance management database. You will also coordinate with subcontractors, recommend spare parts, and ensure all work complies with corporate, health, safety, and environmental policies.
The role requires at least three years of facility maintenance experience in hospitals, universities, or industrial settings, the ability to read blueprints and use building automation systems, and strong verbal and written communication skills in English. Physical demands include lifting up to 50 lb, using hand tools, working on ladders, and wearing personal protective equipment, with flexible shift availability for evenings, weekends, and on‑call emergencies.
Preferred qualifications include knowledge of Metasys BAS, HVAC, and electrical systems. Compensation is set at $31.31 per hour under a collective bargaining agreement, with benefits provided through a local labor union.
