Field Service Representative

Description

The role joins Eaton’s extensive field services team, delivering technical solutions and supporting customers on electrical equipment projects. Responsibilities include handling complex engineering tasks, performing testing and design work, and producing accurate service reports.

• Work on assigned electrical equipment projects
• Deliver technical solutions to customers
• Perform complex engineering assignments such as equipment design, material testing, process studies, or research investigations
• Generate timely and accurate service reports on work, product performance, and warranties
• Participate in a leads program with bonus pay
• Maintain compliance with Eaton’s safety program and EESS Qualified Electrical Worker certification, including annual recertifications
• Work variable hours, including nights and weekends, and travel as needed within the district/state/region/country
• Follow electrical safety measures and perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 50 lb (with assistance for heavier loads)
• Use hand and power tools for equipment assembly
• Collaborate with the team to meet project deadlines

Requirements

• Demonstrate proficiency in test equipment operation, troubleshooting, protective relays, power quality measurements, disaster recovery, rotating machinery, and protection & control design
• Complete required background and drug screenings
• Drive an Eaton vehicle and obtain DOT non‑CDL qualification if required
• Understand 3‑phase power systems and low, medium, and high voltage distribution equipment
• Obtain and maintain a valid TWIC card
• Apply strong computer, problem‑solving, and logical thinking skills
• Communicate technical problems and solutions effectively
• Hold a high school diploma or GED (or accredited trade school) with at least 2 years electrical/mechanical experience (or 5 years with trade school)
• Authorized to work in the US without sponsorship and possess a valid driver’s license
• Reside within a 50‑mile radius of Mountainside, NJ (military exempt)
• Possess a bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferred)
• Have minimum 1 year field service experience with electrical distribution or control systems (preferred)
• Hold an electrical or general contractor’s license (preferred)
• Hold a professional engineering license (preferred)
• Experience testing, troubleshooting, and servicing electrical distribution/control systems, including power quality measurements and protective relays (preferred)
• NICET/NETA certification (preferred)
