The LNG Technician is an entry‑level role supporting the safe, efficient, and cost‑effective installation and maintenance of natural‑gas facilities, including LNG plant operations, in compliance with 49 CFR Part 193 and Piedmont Natural Gas policies.
Technicians ensure reliable 365‑day plant operation by performing maintenance, calibrations, and repairs on liquefaction and vaporization equipment, responding quickly to malfunctions, and documenting work per regulatory and company standards. They also provide security services, general grounds upkeep, and may perform selected operational duties when needed.
- Maintain reliable 365‑day LNG plant operation (liquefaction/vaporization).
- Perform preventive maintenance, calibrations, and repairs on plant equipment and control systems.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, restoring operational status.
- Complete large maintenance projects safely with minimal supervision.
- Document maintenance activities, parts used, and compliance reports.
- Provide facility security, including access control, patrols, and alarm monitoring.
- Conduct general grounds and facility upkeep.
- Train new LNG Technicians and other plant personnel.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and regulatory requirements.
- Work weekends, holidays, overtime, and respond to on‑call emergencies.

Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, two years of technical training (or equivalent) and at least four years of experience troubleshooting engines, compressors, and control systems, plus the ability to lift 275 lb safely. Desired experience includes plumbing, electrical, HVAC, a valid license, prior LNG‑plant work, and strong mechanical/electrical knowledge.
- High school diploma or GED plus two years technical training (electronics/engineering technology) or equivalent.
- Minimum four years progressive experience with internal‑combustion engines, reciprocating/centrifugal compressors, and programmable control systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and equipment manuals.
- Proficiency with construction tools, mechanical concepts, and Windows‑based PC applications.
- Desired: licensed plumbing/electrical/HVAC experience, prior LNG‑plant work, and strong AC/DC circuit knowledge.
- Must lift up to 275 lb safely; physical ability to perform frequent walking, climbing, and handling of equipment.
- Must pass the Non‑Certified Operator assessment.
- Strong verbal and written communication, teamwork, and analytical problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work at heights and on elevated surfaces.
