Generator Electrical Controls - Services Team Leader

Description

• Mentor and coach engineers to enhance their technical expertise and foster career growth.
• Evaluate high-risk projects to facilitate accurate quoting and effective risk management.
• Collaborate with product management, sales, and other cross-functional teams to align technical solutions with business objectives.
• Provide visionary leadership to the engineering team, establishing and communicating technical standards and best practices.
• Lead design reviews and enforce compliance with quality design standards.
• Collaborate with product development team and quality teams to refine and improve processes and tools across the engineering value stream.
• Plan, execute, and deliver complex, high-stakes projects in partnership with commercial, OEM, and field services teams.
• Ensure all projects meet scope, schedule, and budget requirements through diligent oversight and leadership.
• Interact clearly and effectively with the ITO (Information Technology Operations) team to understand project needs, correlating legacy product capabilities with current and latest product generation controls. Ensure seamless integration and transition between old and new systems.
• Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders to ensure alignment and success.
• Lead and conduct Customer Witness Tests and support Site Acceptance Tests with confidence and professionalism.
• Lead the system engineering and development of Exciter models such as ST4B/AC7B/PSS2C or similar, during the ITO phase, with respect to local TSO/Grid code compliance needs
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and operational efficiency.
• Identify and integrate new technologies to maintain a competitive edge in the industry.
• Communicate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
• Ensure strict adherence to quality standards throughout the entire development lifecycle.
• Implement and oversee performance monitoring processes, and report on key quality metrics to stakeholders.
• Cultivate a culture of innovation and encourage creative problem-solving within the team.

Requirements

• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Ability to mentor and develop talent effectively.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• Proven track record of leading and successfully delivering complex engineering projects.
• Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills to inspire and guide teams.
• Ability and willingness to travel up to 25%
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with strong cross-functional communication strengths.
• Expertise in electrical and mechanical control systems.
• 15+ years of technical engineering experience, with a minimum of 3 years in a leadership role.
• Familiarity with control systems from leading manufacturers including GE, Emerson, ABB, Rockwell, Siemens, Brush, Reivax, and others.
• Sound decision-making abilities under pressure.
