In this role you will be at the forefront of the UK’s private and public sector net‑zero transition, shaping net‑zero energy and ESG strategies and delivering projects such as the Social Housing Retrofit Accelerator. The specific focus will depend on your skills, ranging from strategy development to hands‑on project delivery for innovative, market‑shaping initiatives.
- Line‑manage junior consultants and develop their professional capabilities.
- Develop business cases for new service areas and expand client, sector and technology coverage.
- Lead project delivery, including client liaison, team resourcing and budget control.
- Support social landlords and public bodies throughout their net‑zero strategy and investment journey from awareness to completion.
- Analyse housing asset data to benchmark energy performance and create investment scenarios aligned with net‑zero targets.
- Measure environmental performance for social landlords and implement ESG strategies and reporting frameworks.
- Deliver industry assistance programmes such as the Social Housing Retrofit Accelerator, building provider capacity for retrofit.
- Identify new business opportunities and contribute to bid development.

The specialist Sustainability and Net Zero team is expanding to meet rising demand from social housing providers and public sector organisations. Senior Consultants are recruited from energy and sustainability consultancies, engineering firms, local authorities and housing associations, bringing experience in real‑estate sustainability projects, retrofit and sometimes line‑management responsibilities.
The ideal candidate combines a positive, creative approach with self‑starter independence, while being a dependable, collaborative team member who can inspire others. Strong communication, problem‑solving and relationship‑management abilities are essential.
- Degree or equivalent experience in sustainability or environmental disciplines, focusing on housing or the built environment.
- Proven systematic project management of complex, multi‑stakeholder initiatives.
- Experience using data to drive decarbonisation, asset planning and programme development.
- Deep expertise in net‑zero and ESG policy and strategy for social housing.
- Excellent communication skills for both technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Strong problem‑solving and relationship‑management abilities.
- Experience with social landlord asset management, finance or retrofit capital projects.
- Background in construction contract management or new‑build housing development.
- Knowledge of sustainable procurement, PAS2035 and stakeholder engagement with residents.
- Proven business development, bid writing and team‑growth experience.
- Familiarity with sustainability reporting frameworks such as GHG Protocol, CDP or TCFD.
